From Past to Present: The Valuable Nan City Wall

The Nan City Wall is an important historical monument that tells the story of political governance when Nan was still a city-state. Currently, a well-preserved section of the wall, 25 meters long and 5 meters high, stretches along Mahawong Road connecting to Anantaworaritthidet Road. In 1993, the Fine Arts Department restored the wall to a length of 415 meters and registered it as a national monument the following year.

กำแพงเมืองน่าน เป็นโบราณสถานสำคัญที่บอกเล่าประวัติศาสตร์การเมืองการปกครองสมัยที่น่านยังเป็นนครรัฐ ปัจจุบันกำแพงที่ยังอยู่ในสภาพสมบูรณ์ ปัจจุบันยังคงเหลือแนวกำแพงที่สมบูรณ์ยาว 25 เมตร สูง 5 เมตร ทอดตัวอยู่บริเวณถนนมหาวงศ์เชื่อมต่อกับถนนอนันตวรฤทธิเดช ในปี 2536 กรมศิลปากรได้บูรณะปฏิสังขรณ์แนวกำแพงให้ยาวถึง 415 เมตร และขึ้นทะเบียนเป็นโบราณสถานของชาติในปีถัดมา


But the Nan City Wall is not just a relic of the past. Today, the surrounding area has been renovated into a shady public park with beautiful brick walkways and benches for people to relax, becoming a popular meeting point for Nan locals and tourists.

From City Wall to Creative Space

With the vision of various stakeholders, both public and private sectors, as well as local communities, including the local community, particularly the Youth Network in Nan Old Town Special Area, integrating cooperation with the Treasury Department and the Designated Areas for Sustainable Tourism Administration (Nan Old Town), the Nan City Wall has been developed to be more than just a tourist attraction, but a lively "creative space."

Suparada Kandisayakul, Managing Director of the Designated Areas for Sustainable Tourism Administration, Nan Old City Office (DASTA), says, "We want this area to be for people of all groups and ages, not just an abandoned historical site, but a living space where people can experience the historical importance and beauty of cultural heritage."

ด้วยวิสัยทัศน์ของหน่วยงานต่างๆ ทั้งภาครัฐและเอกชน รวมถึงชุมชนท้องถิ่น โดย เครือข่ายเยาวชนในพื้นที่พิเศษเมืองเก่าน่าน บูรณาการความร่วมมือกับ กรมธนารักษ์ และ สำนักงานพื้นที่พิเศษเพื่อการท่องเที่ยวอย่างยั่งยืนเมืองเก่าน่าน (อพท.น่าน)  กำแพงเมืองน่านจึงได้รับการพัฒนาให้เป็นมากกว่าสถานที่ท่องเที่ยวทั่วไป แต่กลายเป็น "พื้นที่สร้างสรรค์" ที่มีชีวิตชีวา

คุณศุภรดา กานดิศยากุล ผู้จัดการสำนักงานพื้นที่พิเศษเพื่อการท่องเที่ยวอย่างยั่งยืนเมืองเก่าน่าน เล่าว่า "เราต้องการให้พื้นที่นี้เป็นของคนทุกกลุ่มทุกวัย ไม่ใช่แค่โบราณสถานที่ถูกทิ้งร้าง แต่เป็นพื้นที่ที่มีชีวิต ที่ผู้คนสามารถสัมผัสได้ถึงความสำคัญทางประวัติศาสตร์ และความงดงามของมรดกวัฒนธรรม"

Creative Festivals at Nan City Wall

Since 2021, the "Nan Old City Wall Market" event has been held annually. In 2023, it was organized under the theme "Crafts and Folk Art in Water." This event not only showcases art and handicrafts but also provides a platform for youth to demonstrate their potential through exhibitions, stage performances, hosting, as well as painting and folk song competitions.

เทศกาลสร้างสรรค์ที่กำแพงเมืองน่าน

ตั้งแต่ปี 2564 เป็นต้นมา ได้มีการจัดงาน "กาดกำแพงเมืองเก่าน่าน" ขึ้นอย่างต่อเนื่องทุกปี โดยในปี 2566 โดยครั้งล่าสุดงานถูกจัดขึ้นภายใต้แนวคิด "หัตถกรรมและศิลปะพื้นบ้านเชื่อมโยงสายน้ำน่าน" หรือ Crafts and Folk Art in Water งานนี้ไม่ได้มีดีแค่การแสดงงานศิลปะและหัตถกรรมเท่านั้น แต่ยังเป็นพื้นที่ให้เยาวชนได้แสดงศักยภาพ ไม่ว่าจะเป็นการจัดนิทรรศการ การแสดงบนเวที การเป็นพิธีกร รวมไปถึงการประกวดวาดภาพและดนตรีโฟล์คซอง

Youth and Cultural Heritage Conservation

The key to the success of this event is the participation of Nan youth, especially the DNYC (Nan Youth Network Capacity Development Fund) group, who have been actively involved in conceptualizing, planning, and implementing the event.

Thanakorn Saenkham, advisor to the fund, says, "Participating in this activity is an important opportunity for youth to learn and develop work skills, including leadership, followership, responsibility, and coordination, which is a very valuable experience."

Kanoknun Kham-utta, the 8th generation president of the fund, adds, "Besides practicing work skills, the young members also have the opportunity to bring their products, snacks, and food to sell at booths, generating income as well."

หัวใจสำคัญของความสำเร็จในการจัดงานนี้ คือการมีส่วนร่วมของเยาวชนน่าน โดยเฉพาะกลุ่ม DNYC (กองทุนพัฒนาศักยภาพเครือข่ายเยาวชนจังหวัดน่าน) ที่ได้เข้ามามีส่วนร่วมในการคิด วางแผน และดำเนินงานอย่างแข็งขัน

นายธนากร แสนคำ ที่ปรึกษากองทุนฯ เล่าว่า "การได้ร่วมจัดกิจกรรมนี้ เป็นโอกาสสำคัญที่เยาวชนจะได้เรียนรู้และพัฒนาทักษะการทำงาน ทั้งการเป็นผู้นำ ผู้ตาม การรับผิดชอบ และการประสานงาน ซึ่งเป็นประสบการณ์ที่มีคุณค่ามาก"

ส่วนนางสาวกนกนันท์ คำอุตตา ประธานกองทุนฯ รุ่นที่ 8 เสริมว่า "นอกจากได้ฝึกทักษะการทำงานแล้ว น้องๆ ยังมีโอกาสนำผลิตภัณฑ์ ขนม อาหาร มาร่วมออกบูธจำหน่าย ทำให้มีรายได้ด้วย"
