City of Crafts and Folk Arts

The City of Crafts and Folk Arts is a designation given by UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) to recognize cities that have a significant history and tradition of craftsmanship and folk art. This designation is intended to promote the preservation and continuation of traditional crafts and folk art, as well as to encourage tourism and economic development in the designated cities. Genoa, Italy

Cities are nominated by the national government and then evaluated by UNESCO's expert committee to see if they meet the criteria.
